Abstract


JOB SATISFACTION LEVELS OF LOGISTICS SECTOR EMPLOYEES AND THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN DEMOGRAPHIC PROPERTIES OF JOB SATISFACTION LEVELS

The dynamic competitive environment forces businesses to use their human capital as a competitive advantage. Satisfied employees are one of the factors on which human capital can be transformed into a competitive advantage. A high level of job satisfaction is often associated with high performance. Job satisfaction is a positive sense about a job as a result of evaluating all of its features. It is possible to examine the factors that determine job satisfaction in two main groups as internal and external factors. Internal elements consist of individual characteristics. External elements consist of organizational features. The aim of this study is to determine the level of job satisfaction among employees in the logistics sector and to investigate the relationship between job satisfaction and demographic characteristics, one of the factors that determine job satisfaction. The research universe consists of the employees of logistics enterprises in Konya. The data were collected using the short form of the Minnesota job satisfaction scale with 7 questions about demographic characteristics. The collected data were analyzed using the number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, independent groups t-test, and One-Way ANOVA tests. The general job satisfaction levels of the logistics sector employees (3.87 ± .75) were found to be high. A significant relationship was found between the demographic characteristics of the participants and their job satisfaction levels only with the gender variable and the level of external satisfaction, and no significant relationship was found with the job satisfaction levels of other demographics.
