Abstract


THE ROLE OF MOTIVATION IN REACHING THE GOALS OF STUDENTS PREPARING FOR UNIVERSITY EXAMS

Students preparing for the university entrance exam in Turkey have difficulties in getting into the programs they want to study. It is thought that this situation is caused by the insufficient academic skills of the students during their education as well as the lack of motivation. The aim of this study is to determine the level of success of students as a result of motivation studies by obtaining quantitative data. The study was carried out in a university preparation center serving in Ankara in January 2021. Quantitative research formed the method of this study. The effect of motivation on students who go to university preparation centers was investigated by applying a 40-question survey to randomly selected students. SPSS 22.0 statistical analysis program was used in the evaluation of the collected data. 17 of the questions asked in the questionnaire were considered suitable for evaluation and were examined by dividing them into 5 dimensions. Within the scope of the research, it was observed that the students who went to university preparation centers achieved their goals by providing their motivation as a result of institutional activities. It has been understood that it is important for the students who lack motivation and insufficient academic skills to be motivated and directed within a plan immediately. Increasing the motivation of the students by analyzing the parameters they were in was effective in reaching their goals. As a result, it has been determined that the students who go to university preparation centers have high levels of study motivation, motivation to reach the goal and general motivation. The validity of the idea presented; It has been shown that students who are preparing for the university exam will be motivated and can achieve the professions they want to do in the future as a result of their planned studies.
