ANALYSİS OF THE USE OF SOME IMPORTED CHEMİCAL RAW MATERİALS İN PRODUCTİON FOR EXPORT PURPOSES İN THE TURKİSH PLASTİCS INDUSTRY

Abstract

In the globalizing world, international trade and marketing placing an important role about economic competition between world countries. Thermoplastics, which are used as raw materials in many sectors; marketing and export of plastic products obtained from thermoplastics are also an important competition point for world countries. About their usage fields; from glassware sector to medical, construction, automotive sectors, plastic products are also an important export product. Considering Turkey's power in contract manufacturing, plastic product export is very important for it’s economy. It also imports a number of petrochemical products that constitute the raw material group of related products. In this study, level of relationship between the import amounts of PVC, PE, PP, PA, PS raw materials used in the production of plastic derivative products under the 39th chapter, and the plastic product export quantities of Turkey under the 39th chapter in the same period, were examined by multiple regression tests, between the years 2001-2020. By interpreting data with the obtained regression estimation equations, the effect levels of the mentioned independent variables on plastic raw material import and the reasons for these significance levels were investigated. Some suggestions have been put forward with the aim of increasing export and production. Thus, it is aimed that the study will provide a source for the future planning of production and export in the chemical sector on the basis of public and private enterprises and contribute to the literature.
