Abstract

Today's economic changes, technological developments and intense competition among organizations have caused to organizations shrink and flexible working arrangements that have started to be applied in the business life. These developments brought with it working environments where insecurity was felt. The fact that the career went out of its traditional patterns and gained a new characteristic negatively affected the feelings of assurance of the employees on their jobs and careers. In the literature, job insecurity is defined as the perceived threat about continuity of employees' jobs. On the other hand, career insecurity is defined as the perceived potential threat about reaching career goals of employees. In studies conducted, it is seen that job insecurity is mostly examined. Accordingly, the study aimed to determine the relationship between career insecurity and career satisfaction. The sample of the research consists of 110 academic staff who work in the vocational schools of a public university. The data obtained by the survey method were evaluated by factor, correlation, regression, t and anova analysis. The results reveal that the perception of career insecurity negatively affects career satisfaction. In addition, it was determined in the research that the academic staff who have doctorate education higher levels of career insecurity than those who have undergraduate and graduate education.
