A Theoretical and Practical Review: Art Education

Abstract

Education emerges as an ongoing phenomenon from the past to the present. The reason for the emergence of such a belief stems from the tendency of the individual to constantly renew and develop himself. Compared to previous periods, today's educational environments make it easier to access information and learning areas. This convenience also provides the necessary environments for a better understanding of education. This has a positive effect on the development of the individual. In this sense, education is an indispensable element for the individual to adapt to the society and life in which he lives. The continuation of education from the past to the present is also due to this situation. However, changing periods and processes have led to the emergence of different definitions in the theory and framework of education, and many educational thinkers have expressed their opinions on education. In this sense, art education draws attention as an educational discipline that should be dealt with within the framework of education. Especially the theoretical and practical applications in the holistic learning structure of art education necessitated the investigation of the scope of art education. The thoughts and discourses examined within the scope of the article show that art education draws attention as the dominant element of the individual and the society he is a part of. However, the conceptual naming in the full and scope of art education has made art education more understandable. Because art education characterizes a general theoretical framework in terms of its structure. In particular, these qualifications also constitute the definitions of the concept of art education. Making definitions in this way made it necessary to examine the concepts of art education and education at the same time. For this purpose, in this article, the theoretical and practical definitions of the concept of art education are given and the individual and social aspects of art education in the process are mentioned. At the same time, the concept of education is also emphasized on its theoretical framework.
