In education, situations that increase or decrease the motivation of teachers should be determined. The answer to this question has been sought in the research whether teachers get their professional motivation mostly from internal or external motivation sources. In accordance with the nature of this research, phenomenology, one of the qualitative research designs, was used. The study group of the research consists of teachers working in secondary schools. A semi-structured interview form developed by the researcher was used as a data collection tool. Research data were analyzed by descriptive analysis. As a result of the research, it is the tolerant administrator support with strong leadership characteristics that motivates teachers and enables them to be successful. It is seen that the majority of the views expressed are on human relations and human qualities. It has been concluded that while intrinsic motivation ensures the continuity of behavior, extrinsic motivation is an important element that supports intrinsic motivation. In addition, external factors such as physical conditions, economic conditions, student interest and parent support have an important place for teachers.
