Throughout the history of cinema, various countries of the world have contributed to this art in their own way. In Denmark, which has always had a dynamic film industry since the establishment of Cinema, the illumination has never been denied and film professionals have encouraged to specialise in this branch. Lighting was handled scientifically in Danish Cinema and would become an example for the World Cinema in the following period. The main characteristic of lighting in Danish Film would undoubtedly be the “diffused light”. Danish cinematographers who insistently used this type of lighting would also export their knowledge at the countries they go for filming. Besides, for co-productions filmed in Denmark, local gaffers were preferred to work with. The aim of our study is to talk about these unique and advanced lighting techniques of the country's cinema, with examples from Danish Cinema, besides conveying what we know about Danish Cinema. In our research, first we touch to the importance of lighting in film, the general characteristics of the Danish Cinema and the use of Lighting in Danish film.
