Abstract

This article discusses the definitions of Facebook jealousy and trust in romantic relationship and the role of Facebook jealousy on trust issues in romantic relationships. Then, are presented empirical studies on the relationship between Facebook jealousy and the perception of trust in romantic relationships. The positive and negative effects of Facebook use on individuals have been frequently discussed by researchers recently. However, there are very few studies that refer to the term Facebook jealousy that came into our lives with the widespread use of Facebook jealousy and the concept of trust in romantic relatonships. Today, the negative effects of Facebook jealousy on romantic relationships have reached an undeniable extent. When the literatüre is examined, the problems and stress in romantic relationships are generally evaluated on the basis of economic problems. However, today, the change in relationship equations and the active use of Facebook have also changed the causes and contents of stress and problems in the relationship. Researches Facebook, which is widely used in Turkey; ıt has been revealed that the risk of couples to reconnect with a new person or ex-lover, due to their features such as sharing what they offer to their users and easily reaching the person they want to connect with, causes jealousy between spouses and as a result, trust problems, cheating an even separation.
