Cinema, which is a sum of all arts has also benefited from music throughout its history and used this element as a means of narration. Music is an important element for Turkish Cinema as it is for other cinemas. The Film Music in Turkey has started with the scores that the Turkish Fives composed for films, it continued with the genres belongs to Turkish Music, developed with progressive music and the music genres used in films were diversified from Turkish Easy Listening to the Ethnical (Mediterranean) music. In Turkish Film Scores which employed the different genres of Turkish music in their original forms or being modernised, Western musical genres were represented only in limited numbers. Besides, research showed that the Film Music is an ignored element in Turkish Cinema. In this work of ours we search the way the music used in Turkish Cinema, the achivement in this branch of art by different periods and understandings. The aim of the research is to help to decide on what to do to progress Film Music in Turkey, by examining what’s done so far. The methods of the research was to read the books, articles in magasines and scientific journals, watching films and listening to the film music samples. The work which containts areas from the beginning of the Turkish Film until nowadays, is sampled with the unique scores that Project the general characteristics of the period they were made in.
