This case study examines the cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) process for A.E., a 25-year-old individual with a gambling disorder. A.E. experiences significant financial and emotional difficulties due to an addiction to online gambling. This addiction has led to sleep problems, symptoms of depression, and a general lack of enjoyment in life. Influenced by friends, A.E. started gambling and gradually lost control over this habit. During the therapy process, the thoughts and emotions triggering A.E.'s gambling behavior were addressed. Cognitive restructuring techniques were used to tackle the patient's irrational thoughts and dysfunctional thought patterns. Symptoms were regularly monitored throughout the treatment, and techniques such as attention exercises and breathing techniques were taught to the patient. Various strategies were developed during the therapy process to help A.E. control gambling behavior. This study highlights the effectiveness of cognitive behavioral therapy in treating gambling disorder and illustrates A.E.'s experiences in coping with addiction.
